BABY CUPIT REMAINS MYSTERY

The parents of Baby Cupit have decided once again to keep its sex a mystery until the birth day. For now, the Chronicle readers can study these super advanced pictures and try to guess the sex for themselves. For the record, Maren does not have any intuition on what it will be. While she has had some crazy dreams during this pregnancy, none of them have been indicative of the sex of her unborn child.

LAUREL GOES HIP-HOP

Although her parents have yet to figure out where she picked up this attitude, Laurel posed for several pictures on vacation flashing her gangsta look. The verdict is still out on whether it's cute or troubling.

VACATION: PART 2

Laurel and Brant enjoyed the line for Pirates of the Caribbean much more so than the ride itself. The parents made a big mistake. They knew they were in for trouble when the first few scenes of the ride were scenes with pirate bones. Brant spent most of the ride with his head on Daddy's lap.

Toontown was a much happier place. The kids got to meet characters and princesses. While the wait to see the princesses was a little long, it was well worth it. Each princess spent a few minutes with the children...talking to them in their princess voices of course and making them feel extra special. Aurora even told Laurel that she used to wear glasses, too.

The Goofy hat picture of Brant ranks as one of the best of the trip. The lipstick on his cheek is from a kiss from Belle.

VACATION EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS

In the first of a multi-part series, the Chronicle brings you the report of the Cupits' first family vacation.

The first day, the crew left Baton Rouge early in the morning and completed the drive in 13 hours. Besides being long, the drive was relatively pleasant. Of course, the possibility of a visit to Disney World was kept secret from Brant and Laurel. Maren and Brad hoped this tactic would prevent repetitive inquiries in the car about when the family would see Mickey and Minnie.

After a good night sleep at Aunt Cissy's, the family found a close-by church to attend. After church, they headed over to the Ekendahl's house for a cookout and playtime. Maren's college roommate Nicole has two little girls close in age to Laurel and Brant. The kids played outside and had a wonderful time together. They even roasted some marshmallows on the fire pit.

Monday morning, the family met Aunt Cissy at the Magic Kingdom. The children were told while getting dressed that they were going to Disney World. Laurel guessed. She said she "just knew." As a completely unexpected surprise, one of Aunt Cissy's friends came to let Maren and Brad into the park for free and gave us tickets for the next day. The family had an amazing time as you can tell from the photos (a few of the MANY). Brant's favorite activities at the Magic Kingdom were "It's a Small World", the train around the park, and the ferry back to the parking lot. He did NOT enjoy Pirates of the Caribbean. Laurel didn't like Pirates either, but she seemed to LOVE everything else. Her favorite was meeting the princesses at the end of the day and having them sign her autograph book.

By the end of the day, Maren was wishing they had brought a stroller for her to ride around in.

This photo was in the morning before the kids started sweating. It was unseasonably hot at the parks, but most of the lines were in the a/c.

Look for more photos to be posted soon. Normal life has put the staff in a time crunch.

BRANT SEES SKELETON

Brant loves skeletons. One of his favorite books is about a skeleton with the hiccups. Today he saw a real skeleton hanging in a radiology lab, and he saw pictures of his own skeleton. Brant finished the afternoon of doctor, hospital and lab visits with a purple cast and plenty of suckers.

Maren got the phone call from the preschool about 11:30 that Brant had jumped off the picnic table and then his buddy Christopher jumped on top of him. The school was concerned that Brant was favoring his wrist so obviously and didn't shake off the injury like usual. Later on Brant repeatedly told his mom that in fact, he didn't jump off the picnic table, but was indeed pushed by his little buddy. This still leaves the question, "Why were you standing on the picnic table in the first place, Brant?"

So Maren picked up Brant and headed to McDonald's for a pre-pediatrician treat. She didn't want to give him pain killers until he had seen a doctor and a milkshake seemed like a good compromise. Dr. M seemed pretty sure that the wrist was broken, but sent the pair over to the hospital for x-rays. The radiologist confirmed the break...so back to Dr. M. Dr. M said that now they needed to go to Dr. L across town. While his mother was filling out paper work for Dr. L, Brant fell on his bad wrist again. Brant needed more x-rays (thankfully in the same building) to be sure the bones hadn't changed again. Finally Dr. L talked to Mother about the "buckle fracture", something that little children often get. It should heal in 3 weeks, and in the meantime Brant has a water-proof cast to show to everyone while he's on vacation! Pictures will be skipped in this post as the cast will be obvious in vacation pictures to come in a little over a week.
